Step 1:  Book a Discovery Phone Call

Usually what we do is start with a Project Discovery Phone Call.  This phone call lasts 15-30 minutes and during that time we will discuss your goals for your project, challenges you’ve been experiencing, why you’re seeking help, and the overall scope of your interior decorating or design project.  This will allow us to determine whether we are the right fit to take on your project and whether we can schedule you in within your timeline.

If your project feels like a fit for both of us, we can walk you through what it looks like to work together.  We’ll explain the design package or consultation that seems to be the best fit before moving into the next steps.

If it doesn’t feel like a fit, we can likely refer you to someone who can better suit your needs.  Either way, you’ll come away from the call with a clear knowledge of the design process and overall estimated costs your project will entail.

The biggest frustration we heard from people seeking a design professional is that the process is SO mysterious. 

Most designers charge by the hour.  Does it really take them 3 hours to pick out a sofa?  How many hours will it actually take to finish the project?  They'll tell you it depends on how long it takes you to make decisions and how many revisions... but should you really have to pay hundreds of dollars an hour when you have questions?

Other designers charge a flat rate (usually between $1250-$6,000 depending on the project and service level) then try to upsell you on expensive furniture.  Why did they design the entire room around a $6,000 sofa?!  All of a sudden your budget -- that you felt was substantial -- is completely out the window.

Then there's e-design.  You hire a designer to give you an online design which includes a mood board of what the room should look like.  Then it's up to you to buy everything, manage trades, and put it all together.  It almost never ends up looking like that pretty picture in the end.

Our Style + Ideas Session helps us nail down your unique style because we want your room to be stylish, comfortable, and a reflection of who YOU are.

Every person and every family have a unique style. During our ideas session we will ask a lot of questions around what you like, what you don't like, how you use the space, and we will look at some inspiration images so that we can "name and claim" the style profile that's perfectly you.

A professionally designed room down to the smallest detail.  No need to run around looking for the perfect piece. Your designer has it handled.

Once you've approved your style profile, your Designer will get to work creating a furniture layout, colour scheme, and lighting plan that is perfectly suited to your style.  

See your room before it's installed with our 3D rendering + concept presentation.

Next we will present the concept the furniture selections to you at a concept meeting where we will review a 3D rendering of your space and the furnishings, colours, fabrics, and materials selected in the design for your approval.

Most clients absolutely love their design at this point because of all the work we did at the Style + Ideas session together.  However, if there's something you don't love not to worry!  A round of revisions are included.

Procurement. Storage. Inspection. Fixing Damages. You don't need to lift a finger.

Everything in the package selected is included -- the paint + professional painting.  Furniture.  Draperies.  Area Rug + Underpad.  Wall treatments.  Lighting. Everything.

We will handle the ordering, inspection, repair of damages (because inevitably, things WILL arrive damaged when shipping large items), tracking, and scheduling.  You don't have to lift a finger.

No need to fight with unreliable trades. Our team will take care of it hiring, paying, and scheduling everyone.

We will hire, schedule, and supply the painter and handyman as needed to complete the project. 

If custom cabinetry is selected, we'll source the very best quality and have it perfectly installed for you.

All of the paint and materials will be delivered on site prior to the scheduled trade visit.

How long Does the Process Take:

The process from initial style + ideas meeting to delivery of products is 8-12 weeks, which is why many of our clients forego doing the planning process themselves and rely on us to do it for them.  Here is a breakdown of how those weeks will go:

Start: We begin with an ideas session and measurements of your space.  Both Heather (our Principal Interiors Pro) and Kyle (our Project Manager) will meet you at your home to do the initial assessment.  Heather will sit with you and ask a lot of questions that will help her define your design aesthetic and understand how you and your family function inside your kitchen.  Kyle will take accurate measurements of the space so that we can begin the process of designing the room.

Initial Concept Development:  Heather and the team will spend about 10 days pulling together the initial design concept and preparing material samples.  We will do initial layout sketches, mood boards, and design a presentation with furniture options for all of the key pieces in the room.  This is a truly collaborative team effort done internally that requires hitting up our suppliers, spending approximately 8-10 hours on drawings and planning, and putting the concept in front of multiple eyes to ensure that the concept is the very best it can be in order to meet our standards of excellence.

Concept Meeting:  We will pull together a full Design Presentation for you at our studio to go over the furniture layout, material selections, furniture choices, and colours.  This will be your first chance to see the initial design concepts and make any revisions to the plan or before signing off on the design and approved furnishings.

Approvals:  You'll have the chance to review and sign off on every item going into the design.  Don't worry if you don't like something.  We always provide multiple choices and a revision round is always included!

Procurement: Once all of the items have been approved by you, our project management team gets to work ordering, receiving, and inspecting all fo the key furnishings for your space.  Your furnishings will take about 8 weeks to arrive, however in some instances can take up to 10 weeks.

Trade Schedule: We will provide a trade schedule for you to hang on your fridge so you'll know exactly who is coming to do what and when while we wait for the furnishings to arrive.

Install Day: Our project management team will deliver and install all of the key furnishings for the space once the last piece arrives.  Your Designer will also spend a couple hours styling your room to put the finishing touches on making it home.

Reveal: Once your room is installed and styled, we will call you back home to do your HGTV-style reveal!

What Rooms Can You Do?

For a room to be eligible for 1 Room 1 Price, the 4 walls and a ceiling must exist (open concept is okay too!).

Nearly every room that requires furniture can be handled through our 1 Room 1 Price offering.  Living rooms, family rooms, bedrooms, home offices, dining rooms, craft rooms, foyers, etc.

At this time we are not able to offer Kitchens + Baths via this service (however ask us about our flat-fee Kitchen + Bath design packages).

How much is it? (And is everything really included?)

We have different package and service levels to meet the level of finish that you want in your space.  A basic room that includes key furnishings, professional design time, storage, white-glove delivery, and 2 hours of styling time begin at $7,500.  A fully custom room done to-the-nines in exquisite fabric, custom built-ins, and designer pieces with every last detail considered begins at $30,000. 
We also have options in between to suit every need and budget.

Not every project fits into a neat little package which is why we created the “Designer For A Day” package.

This is our most flexible package that can be used for anything you wish!

Here are some ideas on how your Designer For A Day time:

  • You’re building a home and want to use the time choosing finishes like cabinetry colours, flooring, or tile.
  • You want Heather to come shopping with you to pick her brain on what constitutes quality furnishings and the proper scale for your home so that you avoid costly errors.
  • You’ve recently moved and want help deciding what to keep and what to get rid of.
  • You’re about to tackle a design project and would like some advice.
  • You are considering purchasing a home and would like an Interior Professional’s input before making that decision.

What to Expect from Designer For A Day:

  • This is our least structured offering.  Heather will have off-the-cuff conversations with you to answer your questions and educate you on furniture construction, colour behaviour, timeless versus trendy finishings, layout, or anything you’d like to pick her brain on.
  • Heather will expect you to steer the conversation and have specific questions, design ideas, or stores that you will review and visit together.
  • Heather can also visit your builder’s design center to help you choose finishes for your home.

Paint Colour Consultation

Walk into your local paint store and you’ll find over 1,500 colour choices on average.  That’s enough to be overwhelming to any homeowner.

Choosing the perfect paint colour for your home cannot be done by turning to what colour is most popular on Pinterest these days.  The way colours behave in a home depend on undertone, light source, exposure, and the hard surfaces that you have installed in your home already.

Get your paint colours right and it will set the tone for exactly the look and feel you want.

Get them wrong, and no matter what you do to the space it’ll always look off.

The Colour Consultation is right for you if:

  • You are building or remodelling and want to get your paint colour correct the first time
  • You want a cohesive colour story for your home that flows from one area to the next.

What to expect from our Colour Consultation:

  • After completing your Discovery Call, we will book an appointment to come to your home.  We will be in your home for about 60 minutes.
  • We will begin by assessing the undertones of the existing hard finishes in the space.  Paint colour will bring out the undertones of your flooring, countertops, cabinetry, etc. so this is a vital step in choosing the right colour for your home.
  • We will then assess the lighting and bulbs used throughout the space and what is outside of the windows that may cast reflection in the room and change the colours.
  • Once we have our assessment done, we will narrow colour choices down to just a few and walk the space with you to discuss which is the best option for your walls, trim, and ceiling.
  • Once we’ve determined the perfect colour palette for your home, your designer will craft a detailed report listing the paint colour and codes, manufacturer, and sheen.
  • You’ll also get a coupon code for our favourite local paint supplier and the contact information for our most trusted painting professionals.

Investment:  $125 + HST
*Price is limited to one room for walls, paint and trim.  Additional selections will be charged an another Paint Consultation fee.

Furniture Layout Consultation

The biggest question we receive on a daily basis is “how do I lay out this tricky room“?

The layout of a space defines the flow, function, and feeling of the room making layout one of the most important design decisions!

The Furniture Layout Consultation is right for you if:

  • You are stuck on how to lay out your current furniture in your space and need some help to get it right.
  • You are purchasing new furniture and want some guidance around what pieces and sizing you should buy so that you avoid costly errors.

What to expect from our Furniture Layout Consultation:

  • After completing your Discovery Call, we will book an appointment to come to your home.  The layout consultation will take about 1 hour to complete.
  • We will begin by having a detailed discussion with you about who uses the space, what you do in that room, and what the important pieces are to work into the layout.
  • We will measure the room and then discuss ways to lay out the room using our measuring tape as a guide so that you can picture where pieces will go.
  • You’ll receive a sheet at the end of the consultation with a hand-drawn furniture layout and notes to consider when making your selections.

The Lighting Selection Consultation is right for you if:

  • After completing your Discovery Call, we will book an appointment to come to your home.  The lighting selection consultation will take about 1 hour to complete.

  • We will measure the room and any main furnishings in order to determine the correct size and scale for the fixture.
  • We will take you to some of our favourite lighting fixture sites online and show you options that can work for your space.

Our 3D Drawing and Space Planning service will help you take the guesswork out of your next renovation project.

The Space Planning + 3D Drawing Package is right for you if:

  • You want to be able to see what your renovation will look like before hiring contractors and buying materials because you don't want to get it wrong or throw money down the drain.
  • You want to be able to clearly communicate your project scope to your contractor.
  • You need help visualizing how your space plan will come together to maximize the home.

What to expect from our Space Planning + 3D Drawing Package:

  • Accurate measurements of the space
  • Bird's eye view layout
  • A 3D Drawing and walkthrough presentation where you can see your renovation come to life and see ideas for design elements, materials selections, and furnishings.
  • Photos of different elevations throughout the space so that you can communicate the plan with your contractor and trades
  • Presentation meeting with Heather plus one revision

Investment:  Space plans can be done per room, however most clients choose to do an entire floor or an entire home.
