Our 3-step process is designed to help whether you’re ready to throw your hands in the air and hand over your entire project to our team, or you’re looking for help just with paint colours or layout.

Our studio is located in Southwestern Ontario and we serve homeowners who are remodelling, redecorating, or building across Canada.

Step 1:  Book a Discovery Call
(Everyone starts here)

Usually what we do is start with a 45-minute Project Discovery Call.  During this call we will discuss your goals for your project, challenges you’ve been experiencing, why you’re seeking help, and the overall scope of your interior decorating or design project.  This will allow us to determine whether we are the right fit to take on your project and allow us to provide an estimate.

If your project feels like a fit for both of us, we can walk you through what it looks like to work together.  We’ll explain our process and packages for creating your dream home and help you select the service that best suits your needs and budget.

If it doesn’t feel like a fit, we can likely refer you to someone who can better suit your needs.  Either way, you’ll come away from the call with a clear knowledge of the design process and overall estimated costs your project will entail.

Step 2:  The Comfortable Dwelling Consultation
(This is always after the Discovery Call)

Once we’ve completed the free Discovery Call, we usually begin with one of our consultation options.  Our consultations are working sessions — which means that we will be discussing ideas and solutions for your space.

In some cases, all you’ll need is the consultation itself.
For larger projects, beginning with our consultation gives us both a way to test how we will work together before entering into a larger agreement and gives us the chance to get into your home and gather a more accurate assessment of the scope of the project.

On your Discovery Call we will walk you through the consultation options that we feel best reflect the nature of your project and help you book one.

 

The Comfortable Dwelling Interiors Consultation

This is a 2-hour working session at your home or commercial project space where we can walk the space and dive into really getting to know your style.  We’ll discuss some initial ideas and potential solutions and leave you with a comprehensive Consultation Report.

The process of developing a home or commercial interior is very personal and we will spend a lot of time together throughout your project so this step allows us to dip our toe in before fully committing.  You get to ensure you like us, our ideas, and feel confident that our team will pull together an amazing space before signing on for the entire project.

Best case, it’ll be the beginning of a strong partnership.
Worst case, you’ll receive ideas and knowledge you might have never thought of to move your project forward.
It’s a win-win!

The Layout Consultation

The biggest question we receive on a daily basis is “how do I lay out this tricky room“?

The layout of a space defines the flow, function, and feeling of the room making layout one of the most important design decisions!

The Layout Consultation is right for you if:

  • You are stuck on how to lay out your current furniture in your space and need some help to get it right.
  • You are purchasing new furniture and want some guidance around what pieces and sizing you should buy so that you avoid costly errors.

What to expect from our Layout Consultation:

  • After completing your Discovery Call, we will book an appointment to come to your home.  The colour consultation will take about 2 hours to complete.
  • We will begin by having a detailed discussion with you about who uses the space, what you do in that room, and what the important pieces are to work into the layout.
  • We will measure the room and do a to-scale drawing of one or two layout options for the space and present that to you before leaving the home.
  • You’ll receive a copy of the layout drawing and a shopping list with furniture dimensions to help you pull the layout together.

Investment:  $300 + HST
*Prices are per space and include design fee only.  Bundle three or more spaces for a custom package price.

The Paint Colour Consultation

Walk into your local paint store and you’ll find over 1,500 colour choices on average.  That’s enough to be overwhelming to any homeowner.

Choosing the perfect paint colour for your home cannot be done by turning to what colour is most popular on Pinterest these days.  The way colours behave in a home depend on undertone, light source, exposure, and the hard surfaces that you have installed in your home already.

Get your paint colours right and it will set the tone for exactly the look and feel you want.

Get them wrong, and no matter what you do to the space it’ll always look off.

The Colour Consultation is right for you if:

  • You are building or remodelling and want to get your paint colour correct the first time
  • You want a cohesive colour story for your home that flows from one area to the next.

What to expect from our Colour Consultation:

  • After completing your Discovery Call, we will book an appointment to come to your home.  The colour consultation will take about 60-90 minutes to complete.
  • We will begin by assessing the undertones of the existing hard finishes in the space.  Paint colour will bring out the undertones of your flooring, countertops, cabinetry, etc. so this is a vital step in choosing the right colour for your home.
  • We will then assess the lighting and bulbs used throughout the space and what is outside of the windows that may cast reflection in the room and change the colours.
  • Once we have our assessment done, we will narrow colour choices down to just a few and walk the space with you to discuss which is the best option for your walls, trim, and ceiling.
  • Once we’ve determined the perfect colour palette for your home, your designer will craft a detailed report listing the paint colour and codes, manufacturer, and sheen.
  • You’ll also get a coupon code for our favourite local paint supplier and the contact information for our most trusted painting professionals.

Investment:  $125 + HST
*Price is limited to 2 colours per home.  Additional colours will be charged an additional Paint Consultation fee.

Let us design and manage your project to completion.  We will handle every last detail and give you your own “HGTV” experience!

Our Luxury Interiors Plan Package is for those who want a magazine-worthy space designed down to the last detail, but who want to execute the furniture purchasing, installation, project management, and styling on their own.

The Luxury Interiors Plan Package is right for you if:

  • You’ve got the time and eye to execute a detailed design plan if we tell you what to buy, where to go, and how to do it.

What you can expect from our Luxury Interiors Plan Package:

You can expect an incredibly detailed design plan that’s simple to follow and execute on your own.

What it includes:

  • A “Trade Day” (if necessary) where we will bring in trades to discuss design concepts and gather estimates on cost and viability of ideas in the space
  • A detailed floor plan drawn to scale
  • A custom colour story mood board
  • Complete lighting plan
  • A detailed 3D photorealistic rendering of the space complete with furniture, lighting, window treatments, etc.
  • Conceptual styling and accessories plan
  • Furniture shopping list from trusted vendors complete with designer’s choice of items.  You can either purchase the pieces directly, or use the specifications to shop on your own!
  • Comprehensive budget to complete the space
  • Local resources list to help you with your shopping

What if I want the option to have your help with purchasing and storage?

Your shopping list may include items from the Comfortable Dwelling Boutique.  Should you choose to purchase these items, we will handle the receiving, warehousing, and storage of items until your project is ready for installation.

The DIY Interiors Package

DIY Interiors Package

Our DIY Interiors Package is for those who want help with the design and details but who have the time to shop and source furnishings on their own and want to manage the project in it’s entirety.

This package gives you a recipe to pull together a gorgeous and functional space on your own.

The DIY Interiors Package is right for you if:

  • You don’t want to question what the best layout, colours, or overall design details are.  You want it done for you so that you can focus on shopping and getting it done.
  • You’re not great at making decisions and prefer someone to tell you what to do.
  • You want to lean on a professional who has an eye for design to make sure you get it right the first time and avoid costly mistakes.
  • You have time to shop and source furnishings and decor on your own.  You also have time to manage installations, estimates, construction, trades, and logistics.

What you can expect from our DIY Interiors Package:

You can expect a recipe to complete your space and make it easy to pull together on your own.

What it includes:

  • Accurate measurements of the space
  • A detailed floor plan drawn to scale
  • A custom colour story
  • Basic lighting and accessory concept

The "Designer For A Day" Package

Not every project fits into a neat little package which is why we created the “Designer For A Day” package.

This is our most flexible package that can be used for anything you wish!

Here are some ideas on how your Designer For A Day time:

  • You’re building a home and want to use the time choosing finishes like cabinetry colours, flooring, or tile.
  • You want Heather to come shopping with you to pick her brain on what constitutes quality furnishings and the proper scale for your home so that you avoid costly errors.
  • You’ve recently moved and want help deciding what to keep and what to get rid of.
  • You’re about to tackle a design project and would like some advice.
  • You are considering purchasing a home and would like an Interior Professional’s input before making that decision.

What to Expect from Designer For A Day:

  • This is our least structured offering.  Heather will have off-the-cuff conversations with you to answer your questions and educate you on furniture construction, colour behaviour, timeless versus trendy finishings, layout, or anything you’d like to pick her brain on.
  • Heather will expect you to steer the conversation and have specific questions, design ideas, or stores that you will review and visit together.
  • Heather can also visit your builder’s design center to help you choose finishes for your home.

The Styling Package

Sometimes all you need are the finishing touches!

The Styling Package is right for you if:

  • You have your finishes and furniture in place and just need help with the decor, artwork, and accessories to elevate your space to the next level.
  • You want help choosing toss pillows, artwork, throws, baskets, and decor.
  • You have beautiful collectibles and artwork and want some help with how to best show them off.

What you can expect from our Styling Package:

  • Accurate measurements of the space
  • Conceptual style and accessories plan
  • Design meeting to present the plan and review ideas with you and your husband
  • Up to two revisions
  • Large item sourcing (artwork, large plants, rugs, smaller furnishings needed to fill the space) — we will source from our warehouse, your favourite stores, online, and our trade sources
  • Plan and item approval meeting
  • Detailed installation plan
  • Install day with our team to install what you’ve purchased and what you already own.  *Note installation includes artwork, accessories, and placement of small furnishings only.
  • Reveal and walkthrough
  • Smaller decor (like toss pillows and knick knacks) are brought in for installation.  You can purchase what you’d like and whatever you don’t purchase we will pack up and take with us!
