Full Service Design + Decor

Most of our clients who are either building or doing a full-scale renovation choose our full service design and decorating option.

The process begins with a top-to-bottom design plan for your entire home.  We will plan your space down to the very last detail (including, even, the throw pillows and accessories!) to ensure that your new home is as impressive as it’s meant to be.

 Building or renovating a home can be a stressful process.  It’s our job to make it a whole lot easier for you by taking the burden of the thousands of design and decor decisions that need to be made off your plate and communicating those with your builder.

 During your build you can expect ongoing communication and details management to ensure that every aspect of the design vision comes to life — from the flooring and paint colours to the very last toss pillow.  As a bonus, all of our full service clients receive preferred pricing at the Comfortable Dwelling boutique and select retailers.

And once your builder hands over the keys, it’s time for everyone’s favourite part — the installation and reveal!  From warehousing all the items, directing handymen and movers, and even stuffing the pillows, our experienced design team makes sure all the pieces of your home are pulled together. We want you to walk into your freshly designed space and feel instantly at home!

Step 1: Tell us about your project

In order for us to determine whether or not our process is right for the vision you’re after, every Comfortable Dwelling project begins by you filling out our questionnaire.

It’s important that you provide as much detail as possible, including information about your vision, inspiration photos, and plans/pictures if you have them.

We also love to hear about how you use the room and who will be hanging out there.

Step 2: Let's Meet

Once we’ve reviewed your questionnaire we will contactyou to schedule a time to get together to review the details of your project.  This meeting usually takes place in your home, however we can also speak by phone if you’re not local.

Usually what we do is discuss your vision, the scope of the project, and we can tell you a bit more about our process and how we work with our clients.

If at the end of this meeting we both feel there’s a potential match, we will prepare a detailled quote for design services.

Step 3: The agreement

An agreement is the best way to set expectations and gain clarity on how things will work throughout your project.

We outline deliverables, timelines, and how issues, though rare, may be resolved.

Our services are always priced as a flat fee paid in instalments throughout the project.

Step 4: The Vision

Once the agreement is in place, we will get to work pulling together a vision presentation for your space.

This presentation will include colours, textures, fabrics, and overall mood.

The purpose of this presentation is to ensure we are all on the same page before pulling together the detailled design and 3D renderings.

Step 5: The Design

This is where your design will come to life!  We will pull together the overall vision and prepare drawings, elevations, and 3D renderings to share with you and your builder.

We divide this presentation up into two parts:  Construction and Decor.

The Construction package includes building materials, lighting selections, millwork drawings, hardware selections so that your builder can move more quickly throughout the process.

The Decor package includes furniture selections, rugs, window treatments, and every detail down to toss pillows complete with itemized budgets.

Step 6: Site Visits

Although our process is very detailled, we do like to make sure that things are on track by visiting the build site twice throughout the project.

Step 7: Procurement + Project Management

80% of what we do is not fun design work… it’s the details and project management that really serve our clients and allow us to create truly special homes.

This is usually a time that we are working behind-the-scenes and requires very little input from you. Often clients feel a bit antsy during this phase because it’s a waiting period until the pieces begin to arrive.

It’s important to know that you’ve made the right decisions and that we will be with you every step of the way during the installation.

There are hundreds (or sometimes thousands) of items that need to be ordered throughout the home building and designing process.

Each and every item is inspected upon arrival and, because things happen during transport, we work with shippers and vendors to ensure that your pieces are just as beautiful as they were meant to be.

You’ll be able to check up on your project at any time by logging into our project management software and viewing purchase statuses, prices, invoices, quotes, notes, and photos.

Step 8: We install and you move in!

This is everyone’s favourite part of the process.  Once your builder has handed over the keys we will schedule movers, direct handymen, and install every last detail — right down to steaming the pillows — so that you can move in and feel right at home.

Full Service Decor

 Our full-service decor package is the perfect fit for those who are moving into a newly completed home or wanting to redecorate their existing home.

We begin your decor plan with the vision.  This is a design presentation that includes colours, textiles, and the overall mood for your space.

Once we know we’re on the same page, we move forward with a detailed design that we plan down to the very last detail.  You’ll see the vision coming to life with our 3D realistic models so that you can be confident you’ll love it before your first furniture piece is purchased.

As a full-service client, you’ll enjoy preferred pricing at the Comfortable Dwelling boutique and at select retailers to help your design budget stretch further.

Once your design and pieces are approved our project management team takes over the nitty gritty of placing and following up on orders, storage, deliveries, and quality control until we are ready to install.

This ensures everything is ready for the big install day where we will move everything in and welcome you to your freshly updated home.

 

The Comfortable Dwelling
Decorating Guide

Getting a designer look has never been more accessible than with the Comfortable Dwelling Decorating Guide.  This process is for those who want the expertise of a decorator but who are comfortable taking on the 80% of the project that sits inside project management themselves like shopping, shipping, storage, and moving.

Within Chatham-Kent or Windsor-Essex this process begins with an in-home visit.  Outside of our area we will begin with a video call to discuss your project and to walk through our video on how to get us the measurements and details we need.

Within 10 days you will receive your completed custom guide that our decorating team pulls together including a mood board for each room, a top view layout, and a curated Comfortable Dwelling boutique shopping list.

You’ll even get a coupon code for any purchases made through our boutique that you may use in store or online.

 Investment:  $297 per room + HST

The Comfortable Dwelling Consultation

We designed the Comfortable Dwelling Consultation to help you solve quick issues and to give a place to start smaller than an entire decor project.

Some clients use this time to help choose a paint colour.  Or to aid with a furniture layout.  Or to help them decide on window treatments.

Whatever your design dilemma, one of our team will come to your home and talk to you about how to solve it.  The consultation takes about an hour and we currently only do consultations on Fridays between 11am-6pm.

Investment:  $125 per hour + HST
